icon about Hong Huong Bia Hoi (aka Fatboys)

G23 Nam Thanh Cong (corner of Huynh Thuc Khanh and Nguyen Hong)

Atmosphere

Loads of seating outside around the junction and in the shadow of some F-off big new opera looking house, it’s the place to sit and observe, but if it rains there’s plenty of room inside too where you are blessed with not only a TV but a video… and I’m talking video not your fancy-pants DVD or VCD player… your good old reliable VHS, so you can bring your old copy of E.T. or the A-team and the Bia Hoi hotties (of which there are a couple) will happily oblige and put it on.

At 730pm no pools of puke in or around the toilets which is unusual as you’re normally looking at 2-3 good piles by then.. may have figure out a hose down now and then will keep everyone happy. If you’re missus isn’t keen on slashing on the floor then there’s a spotless KFC piss pot a boiled peanut’s throw away on the opposite corner

Food and Drink

They’ve been here for 15 years and they know how to look after their bia and customers of which there are normally loads. Good food reasonably priced, all your favorites including pickled cabbage (5000/plate), boiled monkey nuts (not you’re fancy packet ones), that pig skin thing and they’ve just started the Chan Gio Muoi (the bia hoi gammon steak equivalent). Good ole Bia Hoi Hanoi (4000/cup).

Other

And as for the elusive fat boy, well if you’re lucky you may just get a peek at what happens to the cute 2 yr olds that live in Bia Hoi’s when they hit 10 yrs old . . . . .
